More About Us
Pusat Latihan Kasih (Skill’s Training)
Whilst carrying out activities in poverty stricken areas, we discovered many single mothers earning monthly incomes of less than Ringgit Malaysia (RM) 700.00. Some have husbands who are either in jail, are drug addicts or had been simply deserted them.
In 2008, PKK further extended its mission to set up a Pusat Latihan Rakyat Kasih at No. 26-1, Jalan PJS 5/2, Taman Desaria, Petaling Jaya to help empower marginalized communities to shape their own future by sponsoring and providing school children, youth, young adults and single mothers with socio-economic opportunities. Among others, the program includes facial make-up and beautician course; sewing and tailoring class, computer lessons and tuition classes in various subjects for students, youths and others to help them improve their living standards and provide them with better opportunities.
Tutors are engaged to provide weekend courses for these young women and students to help them improve their status and acquire skills in these courses. This would help empower them with self-confidence and provide options for a better livelihood.
PKK Training / Classes
Tailoring Classes – The Kasih Skills Training Centre provides training in areas where income can be generated by single parents and school leavers/dropouts. With the need to educate the endless number of low income parents and school dropouts, PKK has started the Centre with tailoring classes and is working on other courses as well. Through this project, PKK aims to help families generate income from skills learnt, so that they can live with hope, attain self-sufficiency and improve their living conditions.
Bridal Classes “Being a woman, I naturally began to have a liking for grooming. Ever since I stepped out of the home to live on my own, I have been looking to enrol in make-up and grooming courses but the fees were very expensive and I could not afford it.
“My friend suggested I apply to Pusat Latihan Rakyat Kasih (PLRK) and the rest is history,” she said.
Computer Classes Computer class training are provided to students in our home or those in our community to futher enhance their ICT skills.

Destitute women get boost with skill training
PUSAT Latihan Rakyat Kasih recently held a graduation ceremony to celebrate 22 graduates; seven of whom completed a tailoring course while the remaining 15 completed a bridal make-up course.
“Pusat Latihan Rakyat Kasih is a skills training centre that was started in 2009 by Persatuan Kebajikan Kasih (PKK), a registered non-governmental organisation. The aim of the centre is to provide an opportunity to single mothers, school dropouts and women from low income households to learn new skills which can improve their livelihood.
Besides tailoring and bridal make-up courses, the centre also offers a computer course.
Students only need to pay a minimum fee which goes to the facilitators. Other operating costs, including equipment, are borne by PKK,” said Pusat Latihan Rakyat Kasih chairman Geoffrey Joseph.
The graduates were presented with a graduation certificate by Persatuan Kebajikan Kasih president Peter A. Das. The bridal make-up graduates also received a bridal kit each, courtesy of the Rotary Club of Bandar Sunway.
